This New York Times profile on 72-year-old Henry Reininger, an accountant and attorney with a remarkable work ethic reminds us that there is a huge diversity among tax preparers. In New York, as in most states, anyone can hang out their shingle as a "tax preparer."
Society would be very well served if all tax preparers followed the policy Mr. Reininger articulates in his wonderful New York accent: "We do everything straight. If it's not straight, out the door. Not interested."
